Tease by Amanda Maciel Review

Tease

Just to start i would like to say that i haven't written a lot of reviews so sorry if its not as in depth as you would like but hopefully it will help your decision on whether to read this book or not.

This is a debut novel and i have to say i found it a fantastic read, its a YA book and for me the reason i read it is because im stuck in a certain genre and wanted to try something different. I thought a young adult book would be an easier read since its written for a younger audience.

The book itself was a nice surprise, considering the subject i thought i wouldnt enjoy it. Since bullying is such a touchy subject with a lot of people its definitely a risk to write about and get it right.

The book is about a 16 year old girl that commits suicide after she was bullied at school. The story is told from the perspective of sara who is one of the girls waiting to stand trial for the bullying and possibly being the reason emma killed herself. Its strange because as you read you find that emma wasnt as innocent in the situation as first believed and you find yourself feeling sorry for sara but still not condoning what she has done. I think she was caught up in a situation she didnt know how to get out of and she was hurt. I think everyone can relate to either one of them in real life. Everyones talked behind peoples backs and spread gossip even if they thought it was just in fun. This book kind of blurs the lines a bit and tries to show that things arent as straightforward as they may seem.

The book is written in a past/present format. It tells of saras situation now and the past seems to be in a series of flashbacks when she is talking to her lawyer or therapist. Can get a little bit confusing.

Overall i gave this book 4 stars as i think it was fantastic and i will look forward to future books from this author.
